The new hit is carbon-neutral. At June 18th, Chinese national carbon emission trading market has officially opened in Shanghai, which drew a global attention.
WHAT IS CARBON NEUTRALITY?
In Merriam Webster dictionary, “carbon-neutral” means “having or resulting in no net addition of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere”, i.e., balance the CO2 emission and removal; and when the gross amount of greenhouse gas released equates to the one removed, the term “Net-Zero” is employed.
WHY GOES WITH CARBON NEUTRALITY?
According to the Paris Climate Agreement’s aims, there are only 29 years left to achieve global net-zero emissions. Such an urgent matter concerns to everyone. Increasingly, businesses are pledging to become carbon neutral and net-zero: Apple, Microsoft, Starbucks, Unilever, Nike and the list goes on and on.
With the raised awareness of environmental protection, those enterprises who assume more social responsibility of environmental protection and energy saving will be rewarded better brand values. Only such businesses can win the favor of consumers.
Energy-conservative companies acquire not only reputation, but also extra economic rewards. In the near future, each business will be assigned a carbon emission quota. In the markets of carbon emissions trading as mentioned, businesses that conserve energy and decrease emissions can trade surplus quotas to boost earnings, which forms a virtuous cycle. For instance, Tesla finally achieved its first net profit last year, yet by selling carbon credits (as high as $1.58 billion) rather than vehicles.
HOW CAN COMPANIES REACH CARBON NEUTRALITY?
Companies may achieve carbon neutrality in two pathways. The first is to minimize emissions, and the second is to absorb the emitted carbon. As the latter is mostly accomplished by afforestation and CCUS (carbon capture, utilization and sequestration), businesses and individuals are primarily suggested targeting the former one.
Revolutions start from the highest carbon emission industry- power generation and heating industry, where coal, natural gas, oil, and other fossil fuels are generated into electric power. It is assumed that the process of replacing traditional energy will inevitably quicken in the future, ushering in a time of fast development for green energy-related technologies, such as Air Energy technology like InverPad® Turbo.
WHAT ABOUT THE POOL INDUSTRY?
All these come up with a final quiz: which pool (heat) pump should we choose?
Actually, the market has already made its choice. Did you know that 40% pool heat pumps are now with inverter system?
In accordance with this clean energy trend, pool heat pump powered by InverPad® Turbo technology absorbs extra heat from the air and transfer it to the water, thus saves more energy than pure electric heating ones. At the same time, its automated energy consumption adjustment allows a higher COP (up to 16) and saves 32% energy than normal inverter pool heaters, compared with the COP of around 5 for on/off heat pump. More efficiently, a heat pump of larger size runs at a slower speed with higher COP. The higher heating efficiency it has, the less energy it consumes.
To recap, appropriate energy efficient products help you achieve the green brand benefits and realize the global carbon-neutral vision.
